Clive Davies OBE

Clive Davies, OBE, is one of the founding Directors of Focus Education and the founder trustee of the Focus Trust, which currently includes 15 primary schools. He has worked with schools both nationally and internationally, drawing on vast experience as a headteacher, Ofsted inspector, trainer, consultant and coach.
Clive has a wealth of experience working with schools to analyse their current position, recognising strengths and weaknesses. He supports leaders in constructing purposeful and fit-for-purpose self-evaluation systems which impact pupil outcomes. Over recent years, Clive has focused on developing an approach to leading and delivering a curriculum that ensures high engagement for children. This approach is used in schools across England. He is one of the innovators of the Learning Challenge Curriculum, which has gained national acclaim for its success. Clive works in all areas of school improvement from the early years through the secondary phase. Recently, his paper for entry to a PhD on oracy has been a catalyst to help him support schools to create a Speaking and Listening curriculum, which was a major factor in Ofsted’s annual report for primary schools.
As a headteacher, Clive’s school gained a National Curriculum Award and was featured in the TES as one of three schools recognised for its quality practice. Clive has a national and international reputation as an authoritative speaker and has lectured in more than 10 countries abroad, including Dubai, Japan, Kuwait, Germany and Spain.
Clive has written a wide range of publications known for their straightforward and helpful style, helping school leaders focus on what is most important to making a difference, including the much applauded and updated Learning Challenge Curriculum, the best-selling ‘Raising Standards by Setting Targets’ and subject leaders’ support materials.
