Ofsted will likely use Report Cards as a way forward in its inspection process. It is probable that its new framework, expected to be up and ready for September 2025, will set out the main criteria for the different categories of areas to be considered. It will naturally lead to schools using the structure to self-evaluate their performance.
Although many consultations are still to happen, including with unions, schools, government, parents and communities, the embryonic structure of the record card has been released.

The new system sees FIVE judgements, linked to TEN categories (or areas):
•    Exemplary
•    Strong Practice
•    Secure
•    Attention Needed
•    Causing Concern

1.    Leadership and Governance
2.    Developing Teaching
3.    Curriculum
4.    Achievement (in tests as well as across the curriculum)
5.    Behaviour and Attitudes
6.    Attendance
7.    Personal Development and Well Being
8.    Inclusion
9.    Safeguarding
10.  Early Years

This document aims to support your self-evaluation using these judgements and categories. It is acknowledged there may be some changes to the process once the consultations are completed.

It is anticipated that for each category, a commentary of up to 100-200 words will support the judgement.

The document offers an initial ‘best fit’ against the five judgements for each of the ten categories. It then suggests that you make amendments to the best-fit judgement as required.

Here is an opportunity to keep ahead of the game at an affordable price for all schools and academies.
