This video training is aimed at primary school teachers and English leaders. The video explores a child’s writing journey with a focus on clear, small steps in learning to support and develop progression.

- Explores the writing journey of a child unpicking the different elements of the writing sequence;
- Considers the importance of what, when and why;
- Examines the importance of children’s planning to support independence;
- Unpicks end-of-year expectations and breaks them down into small progressive steps.
This training aims to get you to delve deeply into the teaching of writing and explore the what, the why and how of a writing curriculum.

I loved the small steps in progression and the way the planning and writing happens. Some brilliant ideas to take away!
The course was really helpful and provided some new ideas and strategies to improve writing at my school. E. Riley was very knowledgeable and provided opportunities to ask questions and examples of work to help understand the different strategies.
I had not been on a focus course before, or at least for a very long time. it was well paced and informative. It supported our approach to writing and gave ideas for development. Our English lead is negotiating the purchasing of materials from you to support us further. Other courses would be of interest.
