This three-day course will equip primary school leaders with the knowledge to enable you to prepare your school or academy for an inspection based on the latest changes to inspection from September 2024. All the latest messages from Ofsted will be incorporated into the training.
You will gain an understanding of the latest inspection processes for Ungraded and Graded inspections, which will enable you to plan for and manage an inspection within your setting.
Learn how inspectors collect and evaluate the evidence to secure a judgement, looking in-depth at:
- The quality of education with the focus on the curriculum intent, implementation and impact
- Behaviour and attitudes
- Personal development
- Leadership and management
- Safeguarding
- EYFS
Over the three days, you will gain an understanding of the following:
- How Ungraded inspections will look compared to Graded inspections which will still incorporate deep dives.
- The ‘big picture’ of inspection and the importance of self-evaluation procedures;
- The methods used by inspectors to triangulate evidence to reach judgements;
- The information (including the curriculum and the three ‘I’s) that inspectors use to gain an understanding of the quality of education provided by the school.
- The evaluation of the quality of teaching, learning and assessment over time using a range of evidence;
- The development of hypotheses and areas of focus, and how this can support improvements in your own school or academy.

Tim was great - he held our attenion and his anecdotes and examples put everything into context. Going through the framework and the inspection process will really help me in my conversations with other heads and especially as I may be going back into headship sometime myself.
Training delivered by Tim Nelson to our groups of schools - extremely well received and very beneficial for HTs/SLT.
