his video is part of a series of on-demand training modules for schools likely to be inspected under the current framework (i.e. before September 2025).
The videos are based on our popular Headteacher Inspection Training course, taking a more in-depth look at aspects of the process and providing suggested tasks for school leaders to ensure they present their school in the best possible light.
This video training module focuses on how inspectors use the school’s IDSR for pre-inspection preparation. With the increased inspection focus on ‘impact’, the IDSR is a key starting point for the lead inspector. The video uses a Primary IDSR to explain how each section could be interpreted and what questions it could raise about the school’s context, curriculum and outcomes. Each section includes suggestions on how a school might think about the information in the IDSR, what they need to address for the school’s self-evaluation, and how to prepare for the initial conversation with the lead inspector. A template is provided for schools to summarise their IDSR and current data to ensure all leaders, including governors, are giving a consistent message to inspectors.
